There are some shows that just cannot be defined or contained by any time period or era. These shows are timeless and no matter how many times you go back to them, they are still just as awesome! And the best part is that these shows are also not restricted by generation. Even if you watched them when you were a kid, your kids could just as well enjoy them too! Avatar: The Last Airbender is one such show.
If you have clicked on this article, surely, you have watched the show. And if we were to take a wild guess, you miss it and want to know what other shows are just as fantastic as Avatar. Well, certainly, there is nothing that can be a 100% copy of the show, but you have many other options that can certainly live up to a few of your expectations.
Whether the shows have also been produced by Nickelodeon or anybody else, you can still find most of them, if not all, on Cable TV channels like Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, etc. To get access to these channels, you will have to check the channel lineup for the TV plan you are going to buy. TDS TV packages feature all of these channels in their lineup.
1. The Legend of Korra
The Legend of Korra is a sequel series to Avatar: The Last Airbender. This series is set in the future after Aaang is no longer in the picture and Korra is now the new Avatar. Korra is shown to be Aang’s successor. The world is rapidly changing and so are the problems and threats that Korra now has to deal with. Of course, as a sequel, there is a lot of mention about the characters from Avatar, but you don’t really see them.
You do, however, see their descendants, if that’s any consolation. After all, we understand that it is quite exciting to hear about or see your favorite character’s son or daughter and how they turned out. Some of them even have their own children to look after and so, you can tell that a significant amount of time has passed since the Aang was the Avatar. While the concept might sound repeated to you, with the whole new Avatar thing, it is anything but.
You will find that Korra has many other challenges to face, as compared to Aang. Just as Avatar had a long and tough journey since Katara and Sokka found him, Korra is very confused and tries her best to adjust to the new changes in the world and new enemies.
2. The Dragon Prince
The Dragon Prince is another show that is similar to Avatar, and it is set in a magical land named Xadia. Just like how there are four elements in Avatar: air, earth, water, and fire, in this show, magic originates from six sources: Sun, sky, stars, earth, moon, and ocean. Humans and elves reside on this land, and they are at war with each other. The only people that can resolve this are the human princes, Callum and Ezran, and an Elf assassin, Rayla.
You might be pleasantly surprised to know that one of the writers of The Dragon Prince was also a writer of Avatar. Naturally, you can see the similarity between the two shows and the awesomeness too!
3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
There are many adaptations of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but the one we are talking about here was made in 2012. It was the third animated iteration of the four popular turtle brothers, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo. As you probably already know, these four brothers are fighting the evil Foot Clan and other threats and mutants.
The show is the perfect mix of action, humor, friendship, and much more. While the brothers don’t always seem to get along, at the end of the day, they always happen to work together and get through everything – thanks to their sensei, Master Splinter.
4. Attack on Titan
Attack on Titan is an anime that gained much popularity around the world, even from non-anime fans. It is a war anime that follows Eren and the group as they defeat titans that have destroyed their homes and terrorized their village. Initially, the anime seems to be monsters vs. humans, however, as the plot moves along, you realize that it is much more than that.
So, get ready for major plot twists, lots of tears, and tons of thrilling action! It is safe to say that the action scenes in this anime have been so well-executed that you are sure to get an adrenaline rush every time there is a fight!
5. Young Justice
If you have been a fan of Batman, Superman, and all the DC comic superheroes, then you’re going to love Young Justice. This show follows Robin, Superboy, Kid Flash, and Aqualad as they go on missions to save the world, much like their superiors. Of course, the show’s theme might not be so different from Justice League, however, it gives a new look into the superhero world, because of these youngsters.
As we watch these young superheroes mature and settle into their roles, the plot gets better and better with more action, emotional stories, and even romance.
Coming to the end of the list, you might wonder where you can watch these shows, besides the internet, and as we mentioned before, cable TV is the best option. Instead of buying multiple subscriptions for Diney+, Hulu, Netflix, etc., to be able to watch these shows, just get a TV set and one of the TDS packages to enjoy all of them!
